Buffy The Vampire Slayer S2 Ep 3 Commentary

It's been a long time since I watched the previous episode but today I felt like watching it and I did. Buffy is like comfort food for me. After a long day you just relax and watch an episode and you enjoy. So the episode kicks off in the principle's office where Buffy and Shiela are sitting and being berated by the disciplinarian principle. He then assign both of them to organise the Parent-Teacher Night, which sounds like a horrible idea to me.Cut to next scene in the dark side, where there has been a void created after the demise of the Master. A new Vampire bursts onto the scene claiming to kill the Slayer and brags about himself as one Villian does. Funnily enough his name is Spike and has an awful blonde hair. Then we see Buffy talking to her mother. One of the best aspects of the show is it's dialogues. I love when my favorite characters quip and exchange insults. It's similar to my friends trying to insult each other. So those scenes are funny and relatable and are sprinkled out throughout the episodes, which keeps your intrigue throughout the episode.

Recently, I watched a YouTube Video where the narrator discusses the how watching your favorite shows once every week for years has been lost due to streaming services like Netflix. Even on Netflix the most watched shows are Sitcoms like - Friends and The Office which showcases the importance of time in loving a show or character. In the world of binge watching you never really connect in the way like in the era of tv and cable. Watching your favorite characters like Rose and Rachel fight and patch up and then repeat again causes you emotionally invest in the show and you wait for a week to know what is going to happen next but this waiting and talking to friends and family members about what is going to happen next creates a connection which binge watching never can. I definetly understand this point now.

So back to the Story, the eventful day arrives and Spike attacks the school on the day of Parent-Teacher Night. Buffy shows resourcefulness and courage to finally ward off the Spike. Angel also comes to fight Spike and beats up some of his goons, Xander also lends his hand. Buffy's mother becomes very moved by seeing her daughter's calm and courage under dangerous situation. Spike encages the annointed one. Spike also has this girlfriend or something, which speaks like a 15 year old nibbi and the cherry on top is that she speaks in a British accent. The show lighting and background is not very bright like other teen dramas but instead it is dark and brooding but on the lighter side of the spectrum. Despite this the show manages to be fun like a other teen dramas probably due to the quippy dialogues and likeable characters. This show is made for teens or maybe adults to just enjoy. This is without a doubt a fun show.
