Buffy The Vampire Slayer S2 Ep 1 Commentary

 


Finally, After so much delaying and postponing, I watched it, the first episode of Buffy S02. It was excellent to say the least. I got hooked again on this show just like the start of the first season. I noticed it a few times but never mentioned it that soundtrack of the show is brilliant, just awesome. It matches perfectly to the show and captures the vibe of the show.

The Plot                                                                   The episode kicks off with Xander and Willow taking a walk and discussing how much the summer sucked and also talked about Buffy who has gone on a LA trip with her dad. During the conversation, they share a very intimate moment but out of nowhere a vampire lurks behind them. Xander tries to fight him off, barely. Then, Buffy arrives to kick the vampire's ass and then he vaporises into thin air. So the three musketeers hug and reunite and catch up on current events in their lives and the whole nine yards. Giles arrives at the school and meets Ms Calender. Ms Calender right. Makes sense Bookworm and Calender hitting it off. Buffy comes back very different than she used to. She have become mean and has a chip on her shoulder. She has also an laid-back attitude towards the whole vampire stuff. Being overconfident that she will beat vampires easily and can handle every situation. She has also become very confrontational and hostile towards others especially Cordelia. She is very stand-offish and withdrawn from her friends and acts very strangely. Which obviously makes her friend unsettled. Then, the remaining vampires exhume the remains of the Master to reincarnate him or something along with kidnapping Buffy's friends. So obviously she obstructs their plan and kills them. Lastly, she hammers the bones of the Master into powder along with having a emotional breakdown. Then, Angel comforts her. 


Then, they return to school and Buffy finally admits that she feels overwhelmed and doesn't believe that she can take on the Vampires as she previously claimed, then, Giles reassures her. She then goes to class where her friends are waiting for her. They make jokes and everything seems fine and show ends on a upbeat note.

The Enemies of Reason is a TV documentary which deals with fortunetelling and the "supernatural"  along with psuedoscientific domains of medicine also known as alternative medicine. Dawkins argues that if "alternative medicine" was real medicine, then it would be shown in scientific studies but in scientific studies, it has little to no efficacy. This is a two-part documentary. The First part is named "Slaves to Superstition".   A Walk to Remember  T his is  a very emotional and bittersweet movie. It tells a tragic tale of love between two unlikely people. It doesn't feel forced. Even Side characters have an arch and a chance to redeem themselves. The movie is very well-paced. The story flows seamlessly. In the third act,  a character dies, and that is the peak moment of the film. The acting is superb across the board.  Brittany Runs a Marathon This is a redemption movie. The lead character starts as a mess but slowly redeems herself and gets her act together. The writing and direction are on point. Overall, this is an optimistic and excellent movie.  Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind This is an unadulterated garbage movie. One of the most unromantic romance movies of all time. I would expect this from Kate Winslet but not from Jim Carrey. I don't know what he was thinking. The movie tries to be intelligent and thoughtful but doesn't have the wherewith...
