Buffy The Vampire Slayer S1 Ep 3 Commentary

It just is great. It just keeps on delivering great stuff.Lately,I have gone crazy on movies and tv stuff and been just plunging in the deepest waters of cinema for a while. So,because of overdoing it,I felt bored watching most of the stuff, including many ones who i had considered interesting but not really did that for me.So,liking this show so much certainly indicates that it has great potential.Brilliant Stuff.
Alyson's charcter just keeps growing on me.In this episode, she also showed her skill of subtle insults and clever slander.Which is suprising considering her innocent tone and look.Which was a pleasant surprise to me.Xander's character is also intresting. He expresses his romantic interest in Buffy to Willow and also the audience but couldn't gather himself to convey it to Buffy or circumstances don't let him.Anyways,it was an inevitable thing though. From the first episode,he was willing to put his life on the line for her."Men and women can't be friends cause the sex part always gets in the way".Now through into the mix that these are teenager whose prefrontal cortex are not fully developed.Prefrontal Cortex regulates behaviour.Undeveloped Cortex leads to impulsiveness and lack of perspective. So,this was bound to happen.Willow is a cool friend. It would be nice to have a friend like her but it would be a real tradegy if someone knows her and just ends up being a friend. But ,Still it would be so cool to be in her life in any shape or form.Giles is creditable.Always serious,a no nonsense guy.Which is fine cause his character demands this way of being.Sarah is great as Buffy in this one also. This episode was less goofy and chill and had more darker tone and Geller did a brilliant job of showing those negative emotions.
Villian of this episode was also someone to reckon with.Plot was somewhat tragic and you feel for the victim in this situation. Also, stakes were real in this episode and it definitely cause some tense scenes which were properly executed. It hadn't had any witty dialogues in it,which is understandable considering the serious tone of the episode. The show definitely knows the right balance of its ingrediants and so it doesn't overdo anything.Great episode.
